Research program at UOHI: I investigate the broad mechanisms that influence relationship quality amongst cardiovascular patients and their caregivers as well as the pathways that connect relationship quality to patient and caregiver cardiovascular and mental health.
Projects include: (1) conducting a nation-wide environmental scan of cardiac rehabilitation programming targeting caregivers of patients with cardiovascular disease; (2) conducting a systematic review of relationship-quality interventions aimed at improving clinical health outcomes amongst patients with chronic illness; (3) investigating patient and partner relationship quality, coping, emotional health, and quality of life through observational (cohort) research; (4) examining changes in patient-partner relationship quality and cardiovascular and mental health after participation in a relationship-education program (randomized controlled trial); and, (5) developing a guide for caregivers of patients at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute
